A Breed Apart

This “5 and Dime” interview was conducted via e-mail with A Breed Apart drummer Glenn Kuczer on March 6, 2005.

Tell me about your band, your sound, yourself and your bandmates.

Hailing from New England, A Breed Apart was formed in February 2003, when drummer Glenn Kuczer and guitarist Mat Ford were looking for a singer and bassist. After countless auditions they found what they were looking for in singer Andrew Santagata, who joined in January 2003, and bassist Adam Rodenboh, who completed the lineup in February. A Breed Apart's nu-metal meets old school roots and Progressive edge can best be described as: Crunching, Slamming, Wrenching, Grinding, Disjunct, Abrasive, Heavy, Harsh, Angry and Hostile while also setting a Melodic backdrop that will make you wonder how a band can maintain such diversity.

Tell me about your band’s current, or soon to be released CD, its musical direction, where we can hear it, and where we can buy it.

Please share your thoughts on Dimebag Darrell.

All the members of A Breed Apart are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy and loss that Damage Plan has suffered. I remember the first time I saw Pantera it was at the Strand Theater in Providence RI at that time Metallica had softened and we all got our Metal fix from Pantera. Most recently at Locabazooka!  2004 on 9-26-2004, A Breed Apart was lucky enough to share the stage with Damage Plan. They were the coolest bunch of guys, so down to earth and a true inspiration for bands such as ours. They had the heaviest riffs that were bone shattering laced with the vocal harmonies on top...man that sounds great!

Hey Dime on behalf of A Breed Apart we promise to continue what you believed in your whole life, kick major ass and never let up!
