Dirty Americans

This “5 and Dime” interview was conducted via e-mail with Dirty Americans vocalist Myron on March 10, 2005.

Tell me about your band, your sound, yourself and your bandmates.

We are the Dirty Americans. The name pretty much explains what and who we are: dirty, raw, guitar driven American rock from Detroit. Beer drinkers and hell raisers...what it's supposed to be! I’m Myron and I sing. Jeff Piper is on guitar, Pete Bevers is on bass and Jeremiah Pilbeam is our drummer.

Tell me about your band’s current, or soon to be released CD, its musical direction, where we can hear it, and where we can buy it.

The “Strange Generation” album is pretty diverse, there aren’t any repeats on the album. That was what has been sort of annoying for us over the past ten years. Find a cool band, cool sound, you hear the rest of the album and it goes nowhere. I know that’s more a product of the pressures of business but we’ve always loved those albums that wandered around and took you someplace new every few minutes. It will be released in the states on MARCH 22 everywhere…if someone doesn’t have it, they should so beat em down with a belt if they don’t. If you’re just want to check a few tunes out find us on myspace.

Tell me about your band’s current tour.

Everything is being put together now for later this spring so nothing set in stone yet. Our people have come through with some really unbelieveable touring opportunities in the past so I’m sure we’ll be partying’ right most of the summer and fall. Tour dates at www.dirtyamericans.com!

What does your band have in store for your fans in the next 12 months?

A lot of free shit…that’s the beauty of touring, you don’t pay for a fuckin’ thing (which is why so many bands end up in rehab).

Feel free to promote anything else you’d like that applies to your band.

We just wrapped up a deal with Playstation 2 so there are some Dirty songs on “American Chopper,” “Gran Tourismo 4,” “Wayne Gretzky Hockey,” and “ATV3.” Check em out!

Please share your thoughts on Dimebag Darrell.

We were on a ferry last summer coming from a festival in Germany heading to the Download Festival in the U.K. It was like 8 am, and the whole ferry is full of tour buses. I’m getting a donut and coffee and I turn around there’s Dime and Vinnie Paul…fucking tits man. I mean we were hangin with Hatebreed, Soulfly and everyone that was trying to get to the festival but I had never met anyone from Pantera and was in full blown fan mode. Along with Clutch, Monster Magnet and Anthrax they were responsible for getting me into wanting to be in a band. Just glad I got to meet him once!!!
