Rock and Roll Dreams Do Come True!

Rock supergroup Asia, with its four original members, have reformed to celebrate the bands 25th anniversary, and they are touring the United States in September 2006. Never in my Wildest Dreams did I think that Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, and John Wetton would share the stage together again.
When Daves On Tour.com had the honor of interviewing Carl Palmer earlier this year, I asked him about the rumors of a reformation of the original Asia line-up. Carl told Daves On Tour.com that all of his current efforts were concentrating on his new trio, the Carl Palmer Band, and their North American tour during May and June 2006. He admitted that the four original Asia members were talking and that all of the rumors regarding the reformation, touring, and recording were a bit premature. Carl did leave the door wide open though when he quoted the Asia song Only Time Will Tell.
With the creation of a new website, www.theasiawebsite.com, and the release of U.S. tourdates, my Rock and Roll Dream is One Step Closer to reality. Im sure this website will have up-to-date information regarding a possible European tour, and rumors of a live DVD from the U.S. tour and any future studio recordings of new material.
These photos of Asia from the 1982 U.S. tour are from the Daves On Tour.com archives. I dont think the white jumpsuits are loose enough to fit the guys 25 years later, but Im sure the band will sound even tighter. Dont forget to revisit Daves On Tour.com early this fall for a feature story about this historic reunion of Asia, and concert and backstage photos from their September 12 performance at Red Bank, New Jerseys historic Count Basie Theatre.
